Our Services

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy
$99.00

Therapy for Humans offers counseling for a range of conditions which challenge the stability of mental health and well being. We can speak with you about mood disorders, anger or high irritability, anxiety, depression and trauma, ADHD and OCD.

Many life transitions often contribute to low mood or chronic sadness, such as divorce, caring for an elderly parent or ill family member, moving, aging, parenting issues or occupational and financial concern, the state of the world at large or political stress.

We offer counseling for addictions or substance use disorders, as well as device misuse, cell phone, social media and gaming addiction, withdrawal and recovery. Our therapists utilize a range of therapeutic modalities such as: cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma informed approach, person and humanistic centered therapy, mindfulness based models, motivational interviewing and multicultural perspectives.

People from all communities are welcome. Please reach out for a free phone consultation to see if our therapists might be supportive of your individual needs.

Couples Counseling and Family Therapy

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
$199.00

Sometimes the mind needs a different kind of opening - a chance to soften the walls that pain, fear and trauma have built. KAP offers just that: a carefully and mindfully supported experience that can help you access deeper parts of yourself, release long held thought patterns and find new pathways towards healing.

Ketamine is a legal, FDA approved medicine that when used intentionally in the therapeutic setting can create a gentle shift in consciousness: a temporary loosening of the inner critic, the rumination, the stuck places, the stories we tell ourselves. Unlike talk therapy alone, it can help reach the places that words sometimes can’t.

Each KAP session is held within a relationship of trust, care and clinical support. Preparation and integration are necessary and essential components of an effective KAP session and as such, will be included with every KAP offering.

KAP may be a good fit for you if you experience treatment resistant depression, anxiety, trauma or a sense of being stuck in your life, and if you are ready to approach mental health healing from a new angle. This is not a quick fix. It’s an invitation to go deeper into your own process.

What is Imago Relationship Therapy?

Imago Relationship Therapy was developed by Harville Hunt Ph.D and Helen LaKelly Hunt Ph.D in the late 1970’s and into the 1980’s and is based on one simple question, “Why do couples have such a hard time staying together?”

This form of therapy uses specific and structured dialogue to help couples transform conflict into opportunities for growth and mutual understanding.

The dialogues are based on the foundational Imago principal that unresolved childhood hurts or trauma influence adult relationships, and as adults we choose partners who reflect these early feelings of hurt, as well as our childhood understanding of love.

The dialogues can help couples reduce reactivity, lower anger responses, increase empathy, create emotional safety and allow for deeper connection.

Please schedule a free consultation call to see if Imago Relationship Therapy might be right for you and your partner.

Lia Stone, LSW

I am a Licensed Social Worker with over eight years of experience helping teens, college students, and young adults navigate the challenges of adolescence and early adulthood. I also have extensive experience working with disabled individuals, LGBTQ+ individuals, and survivors of abuse and trauma across the lifespan.

I help clients manage anxiety, ADHD, depression, anger, relationship and family concerns, social difficulties, identity exploration, academic stress, life transitions, and coping with  illness and disability.

My approach is collaborative, affirming, and tailored to your unique needs and goals. I view therapy as an active partnership where we work together to deepen understanding, build on your strengths, and create meaningful change.

Drawing from psychodynamic therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based approaches, I help clients develop insight, strengthen coping skills, and move toward a life that feels more manageable and fulfilling. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you can feel understood, explore challenges openly, and grow in ways that matter to you.

Thomas Johanesson, LSW

I am a licensed social worker, and also have several years of experience working in New Jersey Public Schools across the state in teaching roles. It would be my pleasure to collaborate with you in identifying your needs to chart out a path leading to your goals in personal, academic, vocational, and professional settings. Empowering my clients to look inwards through introspective reflection, to see the good in themselves, and to self-actualize their best selves is what brings me to the therapy room for my clients each day.

I like to create a very safe, non-judgmental and empathic space, so that my clients can feel trust and greater freedom to express and explore their feelings and thoughts. I work in a client-centered mode where the therapeutic alliance is collaborative.

I am experienced in helping people with relationship issues and improving communication, anxiety, depression, anger management, adjustment disorders, and ADHD.

I specialize in and have a focused support style for LGBTQIA+ youth and adults, BIPOC-Affirming practice (culturally informed and socially aware), men’s mental health & emotional expression, and neurodiverse clients (Autism, ADHD, learning differences).

We are out-of-network providers, meaning we do not participate directly with insurance panels.  We can provide a monthly superbill (a receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for any out-of-network reimbursement.

Check with your insurance company in advance, asking the following:

  • What percentage is reimbursed for each out-of-network psychotherapy session? (CPT billing code 90834 for 45-50 minute session)

  • Is there a limit on the number of sessions covered per calendar year?

  • Do I need to meet a deductible before I can receive reimbursement?

  • Do I need preauthorization for psychotherapy or a referral from my primary care physician?

A note about insurance:

Documentation sent to health insurance companies becomes part of an individual’s permanent record.  Some people do not want a mental health diagnosis on their record and therefore opt to not use insurance.

Family therapy (60 - 90 minutes) $190 - $225
